Celebrating Rising Talents

By Fritzie Lou Lapina Fenecios

Cebu, March 3rd, 2026. I believe that the brightest futures are built by investing in young talent. Our Internship Program for Future Solution Engineers is designed to give fresh graduates meaningful hands-on exposure and a strong foundation as they begin their journey toward a fulfilling engineering career.

Fritzie Lou Lapina‑Fenecios, Operations Manager at TecSurge

Fritzie Lou Lapina‑Fenecios serves as Operations Manager at TecSurge, where she oversees day‑to‑day operations and leads all departmental managers in ensuring seamless delivery across the organization.

Fritzie joined TecSurge in 2021 as a Cost Controller, following senior roles in global engineering organizations including Fluor Corporation, JGC, Dash Engineering, and Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding, where she built deep expertise in project planning, scheduling, and control.

Today, I am proud to highlight the stories of three interns who embraced the challenge of working in our world of industrial digitalization: Jaimes, John and Alfred.

Over a year-long immersive experience, each of them rotated across our core operations departments and contributed directly to real client projects. They trained using the same essential tools and materials as our full-time engineers and received close mentorship from subject matter experts who guided them through technical responsibilities and professional expectations.

What makes this program different is not only the technical training — it is the development of character and work attitude. From day one, our interns learn the importance of accountability, discipline, teamwork, and clear communication. We emphasize that technical skills may open doors, but integrity, initiative, and a positive attitude sustain long-term success.

Each intern begins with a full rotation across all disciplines, gaining hands-on exposure to the tools, workflows, and deliverables of every department. By the last quarter of the program, they are assigned to a specific department where they dive deeper into the technologies and processes that drive our operational service delivery.

From there, they take on meaningful real-world responsibilities — supporting 3D modelling, assisting with technical troubleshooting, managing engineering data, or producing 2D deliverables. All of this happens under the guidance of department managers and project leads, ensuring they grow while contributing to actual project outcomes.

Alfred
Alfred M. Martinez Junior Solutions Engineer Material Management

Alfred Martinez is a now a Junior Solutions Engineer at TecSurge, where he contributes to delivering engineering data and software services with a strong foundation in mechanical engineering. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Cebu Technological University (2019–2023).

When I asked what he liked most about the TecSurge Internship Program, Alfred said: “What I appreciated most about the Internship Program was the opportunity to apply my engineering knowledge to real projects. It gave me the space to grow—not only in my career, but also as a person. One of the projects I worked on involved adding surface area and volumetric capacity data for piping instruments to a catalog. I also contributed to creating loop drawings when I moved to the 2D department during the rotation.”

Along the way, our interns also participate in team meetings, knowledge-sharing sessions, and technical workshops building the foundation for a professional engineering career.<(p>

A defining feature of the program is the mentoring experience. Our mentors are typically technical experts within the department and ensure that interns are continuously progressing and aligning their work to department goals.

This system boosts confidence and strong working relationships across teams and makes sure that interns can focus on learning and contributing while feeling supported.

John
John Mari D. Alob Junior Solutions Engineer Technical Services

John Mari D. Alob is a Computer Engineering graduate from Jose Rizal Memorial State University – Main Campus, Class of 2024. Driven, adaptable, and eager to learn, John Mari brings a passion for innovation and continuous improvement—qualities he now applies in his growing professional career with TecSurge.

John shared: “I’m truly grateful to TecSurge for giving me the opportunity to grow and continuously improve. Opportunities like this don’t come often, and I really appreciate the trust and support the company has given me. I’m committed to making the most of it and further developing my skills. Before being assigned to projects, we receive proper training, which helps me understand the work better and prepares me for what’s ahead. I’m also thankful for my approachable and supportive teammates who guide me throughout the process. Being recognized as an employee of the month for January was completely unexpected. I never imagined receiving such recognition, and I’m deeply thankful for it. It motivates me to work even harder and continue growing here at TecSurge.”

So, I am happy that for interns, the program offers meaningful exposure to real client work and a structured path to permanent employment.

For me, it is also a strategic investment helping us retain motivated, well‑trained individuals who are ready to contribute to our operations from day one. The success of our program is reflected by Alfred, John and Jaimes who continue to build their careers with us.

Jaimes
Jaimes Eduard T. Barlizo Junior Solutions Engineer 3D

A lifelong learner, Jaimes Eduard T. Barlizo also completed intensive training through the Department of Information and Communications Technology focused on graphic design, further strengthening his technical capabilities. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from Catanduanes State University.

Jaimes shared: “The most interesting part of the Internship Program for me was the actual project work and the problem‑solving involved. At first, the dialect was a challenge because I didn’t understand much of it, but over time I adjusted and learned. At TecSurge, I never felt like an outsider — whenever I asked for guidance on a task, someone was always there to help, and I felt genuinely heard. I’m grateful to still be here and to have grown into the role of Junior Solution Engineer. I’m excited to continue improving my skills and learning more about the projects we work on.”

My congratulations to our next generation of engineering talent who bring fresh perspectives, curiosity, and energy. These qualities drive our innovation and strengthen our culture.
