Attending Hexagon LIVE 2025

By Joemar S. San Pedro

Cebu, July 2nd, 2025. Attending Hexagon LIVE 2025 in Las Vegas was a series of firsts for me—it was my first time traveling internationally, flying in all the way from the Philippines. I had to deal with jetlag and some stomach issues during the first two days, but those quickly faded as I got immersed in the event.

With a decade of experience in engineering design for the Plant and Offshore industries, Joemar brings deep expertise in Piping Design and modelling—amassing nine years in the discipline—alongside a year dedicated to E3D development. Over the years, he has cultivated a strong command of complex design environments and multidisciplinary collaboration.

The venue was the Fontainebleau Las Vegas, which opened in 2023, a luxurious hotel with a casino in the lobby, a variety of restaurants, shops, bars, and even a nightclub. It added a sense of excitement and scale to the entire conference experience.

Before the event officially started, Hexagon hosted a welcome dinner for APAC attendees at VIVA! in Resorts World. It was a great opportunity to meet fellow participants and representatives from companies like JGC, Toyo, and Doosan. The evening helped break the ice and gave us a chance to make early connections in a relaxed setting.

The event kicked off on June 16 with the Technical User Forum (TUF). I attended sessions focused on SDx, which are highly relevant to my role as Department Manager for Technical Services. Our team is responsible for SPF/SDx, custom development, and reporting for Smart Materials, so hearing the latest updates on the roadmap for SDx and SDx2 was especially valuable. The session highlighted key topics such as migration features, user interface enhancements, efforts to streamline the product by phasing out underutilized functions, and new integrations like Reality Studio. It was encouraging to see Hexagon’s direction being shaped by real-world customer feedback and usage data.

The next day featured a keynote session where Hexagon introduced the new name of their software business spinoff—Octave—and revealed AEON, a humanoid AI robot that represents their vision for a smarter, autonomous future. It was impressive and futuristic and really showed how seriously Hexagon is investing in AI and digital intelligence.

On the third day, the sessions mostly featured partner and customer presentations, showing how different companies are applying Hexagon technologies in their work. While these sessions were insightful, the highlight for me personally was getting to sit in on client meetings with Pat and Raghu. I was just an observer, but I learned a lot watching how they presented the value of TecSurge to clients. Seeing them in action—how they adjusted their message based on the client's needs—was a masterclass in real-time engagement and a reminder of how much more powerful face-to-face conversations can be compared to virtual meetings.

That evening, we were treated to a fun night out at the Fontainebleau nightclub, which gave everyone a chance to relax, connect, and talk about the day in a less formal setting.

From Tuesday through Thursday, the focus was on Tech Talks, where representatives from different companies shared what they do and how they use Hexagon tools. While I didn’t fully understand every single topic—some were outside my area of expertise—it was still a great opportunity to broaden my understanding. One thing that stood out clearly: AI is being introduced everywhere. Whether it’s automation, analytics, or predictive systems, almost every speaker had a way they were applying AI in their work.

Overall, this was more than just a conference, it was a professional milestone and a personal journey. I came home with new knowledge, new connections, and a better understanding of where our industry is heading. Despite the initial travel discomforts, I’m incredibly glad I attended. Hexagon LIVE isn’t just about the latest technology, it’s about people, partnerships, and preparing for what’s next.
